The University of Rochester installs its first female dean of the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences on Tuesday.
Wendi Heinzelman took up the post in July, replacing Robert Clark who became the university provost.
Prior to her current post, Heinzelman served as dean of graduate studies for Arts, Sciences and Engineering and professor of electrical and computer engineering. She joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2001 as assistant professor, and became full professor in 2012.
During her tenure, Heinzelman has worked with faculty to develop new graduate programs, including a master’s degree in alternative energy, a graduate degree program in technical entrepreneurship and management, and the first master’s degree in data science.
