Shineman Foundation Announces First Grants of 2016

OSWEGO – Fourteen not-for-profit organizations received grants totaling $340,000 from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation in the first of three 2016 grant rounds at its March board meeting.

Projects reach a wide range of people and organizations that focus on community revitalization, education, arts and culture, and human services.

The largest award was given to the Oswego Renaissance Association, representing the foundation’s continued commitment to assist the ORA in accelerating the city of Oswego’s neighborhood revitalization initiative.

Other Shineman Foundation funded projects include photography for a new interactive Visitors Center exhibit at Fort Ontario, Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre sequential dramatics program in the schools, Harborfest 2016 Children’s Park, Leadership Oswego County and a collaborative program between SUNY Oswego’s Creativity Lab and locally owned businesses in the city of Oswego called the Smart Neighbor’s Project, which culminates in a complete promotional campaign for a selected business each year.
