MedTech Update - December 2018
Thursday, December 13, 2018
Happy December, MedTech members and friends:
For many of us, year’s end is hectic and commitment-filled. At MedTech, it’s also a time to reflect on the last 12 months and to look to the new year. At the risk of adding to your to-do’s, I hope you’ll give some thought to how we can more fully engage with you as we continue to serve New York’s bio/med industry.
2018 was our most “eventful” year yet. We held Meet Ups in Syracuse, Glens Falls and Rochester. We launched the MedTechIDEAS conference series with events in Skaneateles and Utica. Our annual conference – MedTech2018 – brought together the state’s bio/med leaders. We introduced a new and improved Job Board and took it on the road to our first undergraduate career fair held in the North Country. My trusty car and I logged a few thousand miles visiting members across New York, with multiple trips to Buffalo and stops in the Hudson Valley, the Finger Lakes, the Capital Region and the Southern Tier. We’ve spread the word about MedTech and New York’s bio/med industry at events in Boston, New York City and on Long Island and at meetings with our elected leaders in Albany.
Events are only part of the picture. As part of our promise to deliver value to all members, we’ve added new partners to Membership Advantage, providing you with enhanced services and member-only savings; we created Incubator+plus to bring more of the start-up and entrepreneurial community into the bio/med ecosphere; and we strengthened our commitment to advocacy through our Government and Public Affairs Committee and partnerships with the state’s various economic development agencies and organizations.
We’ve also found new ways to reach out to you, our members. Our re-tooled website is more interactive than ever, with job listings, a constantly updated calendar of events and other information to help you grow your business. We’re on social media, connecting our members and bringing you news that you can use. We’re exploring expanding our education and programming to platforms like webinars and streaming services. We hope to soon launch a podcast. We recognize you need timely information that can be easily accessed ways. We’re committed to being that source for you.
Enough about us. What can we do for you? Our mission is to develop the relationships, tools and programs that enable New York State companies to bring tomorrow’s medical solutions to the healthcare marketplace. Have we helped you? If so, that’s terrific; if not, I’d like to figure out why. We succeed when you do. I hope you’ll let us know how we can better serve your needs. Drop us a note; give us a call. We’re looking to a prosperous 2019.
With best wishes for a blessed holiday season and a joy-filled new year!
