MedTech Association Recognizes Award Recipients at its Annual Members’ Dinner

MedTech Association, a membership based trade association for the bioscience and medical technology (Bio/Med) industry in New York State is proud to recognize this year’s MedTech award recipients at its annual Members’ Dinner on June 19 at Seneca Hickory Stick in Lewiston, N.Y. 

This year’s Annual Members’ Dinner will feature keynote speaker Mort Mower, co-inventor of the automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator and CEO of Mower Research Associates, and Peter H. Soderberg, one of MedTech’s founders and managing partner of Worthy Venture Resources, LLC and former CEO of Hill-Rom and Welch Allyn. 

This year marks MedTech’s 10 year anniversary. In 2014 alone, MedTech’s membership has grown by more than 30 percent, bringing the total number of members currently to 105. 

“We are so excited to be celebrating MedTech’s 10 year anniversary,” said Jessica Crawford, MedTech president. “Surpassing the milestone of 100 members is representative of the growing Bio/Med industry in New York State. We are proud to continue serving our members, as we have for the last 10 years, and thankful for their dedication and support to MedTech and the New York State Bio/Med community.”

Every year at the Annual Members’ Dinner, MedTech recognizes key members through awards for Primary Member Company of the Year, Research Affiliate Member Company of the Year, Associate Member Company of the Year and Individual Member of the Year. 

Polymer Conversions is the recipient of the 2014 Primary Member Company of the Year award. Since 1979, Polymer Conversions has specialized in highly technical, tight-tolerance medical devices, medical components, biometric devices, gearing parts, and “turnkey” product solutions. Polymer Conversions is located in Orchard Park, a suburb southeast of Buffalo, N.Y. 

The Rochester Institute of Technology is the recipient of the 2014 Research Affiliate Member Company of the Year award. Since 1829, RIT has served as a higher educational institute focusing on preparing students for innovative, creative, and successful careers in a global society. With values such as integrity and ethics, teamwork and collaboration and professional development and scholarship, RIT engages and motivates students through stimulating and collaborative experiences. RIT is located in Rochester, N.Y.

KeyBank is the recipient of the 2014 Associate Member Company of the Year award. KeyBank is one of the nation’s largest bank-based financial services companies, providing investment management, retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, and investment banking products and services to individuals and companies throughout the United States and, for certain businesses, internationally. KeyBank is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio and has approximately 1,030 full service branches throughout the United States, including branches in Syracuse, Rochester, Albany and Buffalo.  

The 2014 Member of the Year award will be announced at the Annual Members’ Dinner. This individual resides in Albany, N.Y. and is an alumnus of the Syracuse University College of Law. 

As a special tribute to MedTech’s 10 year anniversary of connecting the Bio/Med community, the association is also recognizing the 16 companies that have been supportive members throughout its first 10 years:

Acrolite - Located outside of Syracuse, N.Y., Acrolite is a division of Accurate Machining Inc., aiming to service the medical, dental and industrial industries as an OEM manufacturer of fiber optic lighting and sensing systems and assemblies.

Cayuga Venture Fund - Located in Ithaca, N.Y., CVF invests in high technology, high growth start-up businesses in the upstate New York region.

CONMED Corporation - Located in Utica, N.Y., CONMED Corporation is a global medical technology company that specializes in the development and sale of products and services that allow physician customers to deliver high quality care and as a result, enhanced clinical outcomes for their patients.

Contemporary Personnel Staffing & Professionals Inc. - Located outside of Syracuse, N.Y., CPS Inc. is the largest federally certified women-owned recruiting firm in Central New York specializing in administrative, accounting, IT, engineering, healthcare, insurance, sales, legal and manufacturing operations.

Cornell University - Located in Ithaca, N.Y., Cornell is a private, Ivy League university and the land-grant university for New York State. Cornell's mission is to discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge; produce creative work; and promote a culture of broad inquiry throughout and beyond the Cornell community.

Global Instrumentation, LLC - Located in Syracuse N.Y., Florida and Mumbai India, Global Instrumentation provides design and consulting services on various medical products that are currently sold worldwide.
