Harris Beach PLLC announced that Barry Kozak has joined the law firm as chief operating officer.

Kozak replaces William Kedley, who retired after 33 years with Harris Beach, the firm said in a news release.

As COO, Kozak will direct all business and administrative operations across the law firm’s 12 offices.

Kozak will also work with Harris Beach’s management committee to pursue the firm’s goals and growth initiatives. He is also responsible for the firm’s mergers and lateral hires, the law firm said.

“Barry brings a wealth of experience to the firm that equips him to lead us toward continued growth. His career demonstrates a proven track record of strategic leadership. We are grateful to have him at Harris Beach,” James Spitz, Jr., partner and CEO of Harris Beach, said in the release.

Kozak was previously chief department executive for the Richmond, Virginia–based law firm LeClairRyan where he managed all administrative functions and led merger and lateral growth efforts.

Prior to that, he was controller at a regional law firm in Virginia, Harris Beach said.

Founded in 1856, Rochester–based Harris Beach has more than 200 attorneys practicing in New York offices that also include Syracuse, Albany, Buffalo, Ithaca, Melville, New York City, Saratoga Springs, Uniondale, and White Plains, along with New Haven, Connecticut and Newark, New Jersey.
