Former Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy was confirmed Friday to serve on the SUNY Board of Trustees.
Duffy, now president of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, was initially nominated late Thursday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to serve on the board, but the Senate couldn't confirm him because Duffy was not at the Capitol.
So on Friday afternoon, he appeared via videoconferencing from Rochester and discussed his nomination with two Senate committees in Albany. He was later confirmed by the full Senate with the legislative session set to end Friday.
Duffy, 61, said he looked forward to serving in the unpaid post and would avoid any conflicts of interest with his various posts. The term runs to 2023.
