Medical device maker Greatbatch relocating HQ to Frisco

Greatbatch Inc., a medical device company based near Buffalo, N.Y., said Tuesday that it would move its corporate headquarters to Frisco.

Chief executive Thomas J. Hook said the move will put the fast-growing company in proximity to other leading medical technology firms and academic research institutions. Greatbatch also was attracted to North Texas’ strong business climate and easy access to an international airport.

The first phase begins this summer with four Greatbatch top executives — Hook and the company’s chief financial officer, chief technology officer and president of its medical division — moving to Frisco, said company spokesman Christopher Knospe. He didn’t have a total estimate of how many people eventually will work in North Texas.
