ALBANY, NY—Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C., an intellectual property law firm with offices in Albany and Rochester, New York, announces the formation of their University practice group. The University group was formed in response to current and growing needs for the protection and commercialization of intellectual property by Universities and teaching/research institutions.

For many years the firm has been working with educational and research institutions in New York State including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University at Buffalo- State University of New York, University, the Research Foundation of the State University of New York, Albany Medical College, SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, The Rockefeller University,  College of St. Rose, and Excelsior College, as well as leading educational institutions outside of New York State, including Colorado State University Research Foundation and City University of Hong Kong.
 

The firm has procured or filed patents for its University clients related to a broad range of technologies including pharmaceuticals, polymer chemistry, medical diagnostics, mechanical devices, carbon nanostructures, chromatography, microfluidics and semiconductors.

 

In addition, the firm has represented several institutions involved in intellectual property litigation in U.S. District Courts throughout the United States seeking to enforce and protect their intellectual property.

The firm is a member of, or an active participant in many University related organizations, such as the Association of University Technical Managers, the Licensing Executive Society and SmartStart/UNYTECH Venture Forum.
